Week 37 "I won bowling by a landslide"

Week 37 "I won bowling by a landslide"

September 3, 2018

Hey everyone!! First of all we went bowling today with 2 elders, and 2 sisters and I won in bowling proving that Canada is the best. But anyways the week was unreal, Filipe was baptized and Elder Moreira is a freakin beauty. We only talk Portuguese but it's so fun. I'm helpin him with his English as well. He has sauce, not juice... (Only some of you will get that)  but yeah, this is gonna be a great transfer! It's weird being a District Leader, because now there's even more work I need to do now. But I'm really liking it because I can start to help other missionaries on a more personal level, and service and help is what life is all about!! Let's go into the week!

28 de Agosto, Said bye to my homie Elder Terra, we had a great 6 weeks! The new way for transfers is everyone goes to this one train station and waits for their new comp! In the process I saw one of my best homies out here Elder Baugh, always great to see that guy. But I saw a bunch of my MTC friends like Elder Blake, Nichols, and Webb!! It was unreal to see them, after around 7 months since we all started together! We were all speaking Portuguese to each other and it was really amazing to see the growth we've all had. It was honestly so cool! I also saw Elder Birt, he's from Calgary and we're already tight buds. He went to Aberhart but I guess that's chill... anyways we'll speak Portuguese together for the years to come. Then I met Elder Moreira, he's sick and from Rio de Janeiro (The place from the movie Rio) so I can speak the language of all the native people in that movie by now hahah. But E Moreira is dope. That night we went and taught Filipe tithing, and the word of wisdom. Filipe is a legend, so ready for the gospel of Christ.

29 de Agosto, District meeting in Santarem and as a district leader I had to direct it all ahah! Other than that, not much happened! Good day though!

30 de Agosto, Went to Filipe's house and brought Tiago with us. Tiago is dope, he always has us over for food and is always helping us out! We went over the Prophet with Filipe, and then practiced the Baptism interview with him! Then we had some appointments fall, and got shutdown.

31 de Agosto, We went and taught Jana and Maria Edwarda (Members of the English class) and it was awesome! They made some special bread while we taught and then we ate after! Then the Zone Leaders arrived and we went to Filipe's and they did the baptism interview. He passed to get baptised the next day. Then Elder Moreira broke our church key in the church lock and a guy came and fixed it hahahah. But the Zone Leaders stayed at our house cause it was late, but it was a good time!

1 de Setembro, BAPTISM! Super amazing day. My brother Filipe was baptized, and I had the honour of baptizing him. As well I gave a little talk for everyone that was there. After that, the members of our church had a barbeque! So we went there and even had our friend Igor with us, right now he's investigating the church. Honestly, it's been amazing to see the change in Filipe. When we first went there, he didn't reallly want to talk to us, but over time he started to believe and make sense out of what we were saying. We asked him what changed his heart, and he said it was the holy spirit. Throughout our time visiting he changed spiritually. He started reading these pamphlets we'd give him and he has a firm testimony of the Book of Mormon. His faith has increased mine, he has epilepsy (however you spell that) and he hasn't complained once and does his best to stay at church. He had an epileptic attack right before his baptism but the miracle was after he got baptized he was 100 percent fine. He was telling everyone how much of a miracle it was. So yeah, I'll always remember September 1st.

2 de Setembro, church and Filipe's confirmation as a member of A Igreja de Jesus Cristo Dos Santos Dos Ultimos Dias! And Filipe recieved the gift of the holy ghost, something he was waiting for for suuuch a long time hahah! It was an amazing day. Other than that, nobody let us in or even let us speak! We had lunch with Tiago so that was dope!

It really is an amazing thing to think. One month ago I met Filipe and I watched his progress and have seen the change. The Gospel is real and is honestly powerful. Experiences like this are stuff everyone needs in their life so they can strengthen their testimony and know how to live life, so we can return to our Father in heaven. If you have the chance, serve a mission.

My cool story is that I've just been noticing such a growth in my life as of recent and it's really opening my eyes to what life is really about.

My scripture is 1 Nephi 3:7... lol it's a classic I know. But is honestly how people should view their decisions.. I'm included in that category of "People" for suure!

1 Nephi 3:7 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.

My challenge with school starting back up is to find a scripture that can be your "Theme" for the school year. If you choose one and try to live that way, I can promise your faith and testimony will grow.

Such a good week, the mission keeps getting better and crazily, closer to the end!

From your #1 homie
