WEEK 41 "Solid Week"
WEEK 41 "Solid Week"
October 1, 2018
Hey everyone! One more week until the next transfer! The time has been flyin! But life here is good, we've been doin our best and workin hard! This week I had an interview with President and it was so awesome, he's so chill! But yeah I'll start with the week!
25 de Set, we had a district counsel in the mornin and it went smoothly! But I was feeling sick the whole day, so I took some time to rest in the afternoon. Then we went back to work, I still felt sick but ya know, gotta work hard!
26 de Set, we went and visited Filipe in the morning. Ever since his baptism and meeting us he's been able to have so much more strength. He is epaleptic, and he has told us how much better he's been feeling as of lately! Then we went and worked, actually went up a little mountain and knocked doors on the side of the little mountain. Didn' work out too well, but it was worth a try! Then in the night we bumped into Igor, our friend with interest, the dude is a stud!
27 de Set, Pretty cool day! We met and taught a woman named Isabella. We have a return lesson and the lesson we taught went great! Right after that, we were walking and we contacted 2 women from Mozambique. It was cool, the one really wants us to come back and teach them. And the other had a bunch of thoughts which were actually in line with our religion. So we're excited to stop by there! Then we got food from Irma Dina, not Tina this time, but Dina. Then in the night we contacted 2 women from Guniea Bisau and gave them a "Livro de Mormon". Good day full of talking, teaching, and contacting women hahah.
28 de Set, Weekly planning in the morning and then I got a call from the Zone Leaders... They had an investigator I needed to interview for baptism. As a district Leader I need to interview the investigaters for baptism (of the other missionaries in my district). Anyways we went there, and the appointment fell through ahah. Too bad, cause their investigater only speaks English and I woulda had to do the interview in English! Which would probably be worse than Portuguese at this point. It's hard talking about the gospel in English sometimes because I also throw in Portuguese words randomly. So crazy, but pretty dope! So then after that we stayed the night and did Divisions. I worked with Elder Burke, he's from Hawaii but lives in Cali right now. He played Rugby (For BYU), volleyball, and basketball! He played basketball in highschool against Liangelo and LONZO BALL! He said they were unreal and people went crazy for Lonzo. So sick, but it's so weird talking about Ball in Portuguese! Strangest thing. But anyways, Burke and I made some killer contacts, super chill and calm ones. We made some return appointments for the next week!
29 de Set, Slept in Santarem and then they had an activity in the morning that we went to... it was ran by a recent convert. There were 2 really good talks but I'll just say it was the most random thing I've seen. And full of random videos. I was actually laughing so hard because it was just hillarious. And then us missionaries sung "Book of Mormon Stories" in Portuguese, when the activity wasn't even about the Book of Mormon. But the activity wasn't bad, it was just funny! Then in the afternoon we had another Activity in Santarem, it went alright and it was just a translation of the "Face2Face" event Elder Cook did. There was food in the end so that was great! Then we went home with a member from our ward who came to the activity! Good day!
30 de Set, Church, a cat ran in the church and we (as the Elders) had to get it out, and we sung the song "Who's on the Lord's Side" I forgot what it's called in English actually, so that might not be the right name! But it was cool! Filipe blessed the sacrament again! Then lunch at Irma Tina's house, followed by some work that sadly didn't produce anything much. And then we had dinner with some members Jefferson and Laticia. They're super cool members in our ward, some of my favourites in this country for sure! Solid day.
My cool story from the week isn't something about my mission but it's something SO DOPE! In the MLB there was a Pitcher named Jeremy Guthrie, he just retired recently. He served a mission and everything. I actually met and talked with him once in Seattle with my family at a baseball game, super great guy. Anyways he's only 39 years old and he was recently called as a Mission President! At 39 years he's already a Mission President, freak!!! He's in charge of the Houston, Texas mission. He would be a siiick Mission President!!
My scrip from the week is, Mosiah Ch13 V15. If there is one thing you don't wanna say, it's the Lord's or God's name in vain. But seriously, just don't do it.
Mosiah 13:15 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
My challenge is.... Read the "Pearl of Great Price" within the first half of October. It's actually a super short read or STUDY if you take some time and focus on it. I've read it more than twice in English and I'm finishing it in Portuguese right now. There's some killer doctrine in there!! https://www.lds.org/scriptures/pgp?lang=eng
Today we visited the city of Lapa, great city!
Love you all, keep it fresh.
