Week 13
Week 13
March 19, 2018
Hey everyone! This week was great and it's finally starting to get warmer here! The other day I saw a rock covered in lizards so that must mean that it's getting warmer. I should have taken a picture of the rock, my bad. But yeah, my second investigator Joel is marked for baptism this Saturday! Marco 24th. My crazy story this week is actually crazy, but it's not about me lol. Look at my blog this week because I'll have more photo's than I send here. (I'll post the link at the bottom of the email) We also got a new Sister in our area, Sister Ngalu! She's from Hawaii and she's honestly so dope!

March 13th - Every 13th day of the month is the day that I do my best to be perfect, as I challenged you all a month ago to do the same! Anyways, we had lunch with our mission leader Luis, and it was super good! We contacted a lot, and Joel cancelled on meeting with us because something came up, so we did even more contacting. Then we went to English class to finish out our day. Not much came out of the day, just a lot of contacting.
March 14th - We had to wake up and go to church because Elder Hernandez needed to print off some district leader thing. Then we went to the other Elder's house for lunch and Elder Karthiyegan made us some great chicken! Then we knocked door for basically the rest of the day. Also, I did say that the weather is getting better here, but not on this day. It was the rainiest day of my mission so far, it POURED all day long, I was in shock. Then the night it turned into a crazy thunder and lightning storm.
March 15th - It was Elder Olivera's B-day! In the morning we had a ZOOM which, as I've said before, is a huge group Skype with our mission Presidente and other missionaries. Then the Sisters, Elder Hernandez, and I went to a members house so we could surprise Olivera (who thought he was going to teach a member's friend). Later that day we taught a man named Bruno downtown, he is a Catholic but he was very interested and wanted to set up another appointment. Then we had dinner at a members house.
March 16th - This was the day that we met with Joel, and got him set for baptism! We picked the 24th of this month! Joel has been amazing because he has totally turned his habits and life around, because he truly believes. I love the guy so much, and he's been a great example to me of faith! Then we knocked doors for like 6hrs hahah.
March 17th - It was St. Patrick's Day, so I wore a green tie aha. But in the morning we went to the grocery store to buy a cake for a member because Elder Hernandez wanted to. I was confused as to why but agreed to it. When we were in there, we met a man named Milton. He came up to us saying he need us to teach him and his wife because he needed God in his life again. Turns out he grew up in the church and even had a mission call to Salt Lake. He didn't end up going though. He's from Brazil but he lived in Vancouver for 5 years making the video game Assasins Creed, I don't know the game too well but I think it's popular. He also told me he visited Calgary often! Good thing we went to go get the cake because we have an appointment with them now! Oh yeah and he spoke English with us most of the time. Then we met with some Jehovah Witness man. A week ago we talked to these two Johovah Witness woman and the said, "We know you're talking to us because the light of God influenced you to, so you can chage your ways." Hernandez said, "Okay sure, let's make an appointment". So we met with this guy and Hernandez wrecked him. He started trying to teach us... but Hernandez had pre-planned 10 questions for him and got to question number three and the man didn't know how to answer any questions so he got up set an appointment for another day and quickly walked away. Hernandez went beast mode and it was the definition of "Get Rekt". I got a mint oreo milkshake to finish out my St. Patrick's Day.
March 18th- Obviously we went to church, but in the last hour of church Joel, our investigator, was asked to pray. His prayer was amazing and everyone was so happy with us for preparing him so well. It was amazing to see. We knocked doors after church, in Potuguese knocking doors is called "bater portas", and then we went and said goodbye to a member named Felipe. He's moving back to Brazil tomorrow and he's one of my first friends I made here in Portugal. He is 20 and got baptized last September. He is currently finishing his mission papers so he can put them in this September!
My crazy story is about my Mission President! He's a billionaire and has been on the Forbes List 2 or more times in his life!! Look him up, his name is Manoel Amorim hahah!
It's been a great week and my language is still hard but for sure improving! Things are starting to make a lot more sense now! I'm starting to actually see how one day I could be fluent hah!
My challenge for this week is to contact a friend who lives far away or someone you haven"t talked to in forever! It sucks when a friend is leaving like my friend Felipe, and I don"t want to lose contact with him!
