Hey everyone! Was an amazing week because it was Mother's Day, and I got to Skype the fam! But also in general it was a pretty good week, the mish is always chill though with a good comp like Elder Baugh.
May 8th - Had lunch with the Soares family! That was awesome, they're one of my favourite fams here for sure! Then we went and visited a less active member. He was thrilled to see us, legit! Then we walked and talked with a mother and daughter, they were super interested so we got their number, then passed it on to the Sisters! Then a man Gjerdmun came up and talked to us, in English. He is from Norway, but currently lives in the middle of a forrest on the mountain with his family here in Braga. He had some mormon friends, and we just had a good chat!
May 9th - Typical day in the office, grindin hard but no major success. Our effort and presence here in Portugal was hopefully portrayed though aha.
May 10th - Crazy day! All our appointments did not work out but something awesome happened. So way back on Feb 9th I told a story about meeting a man. I'll quickly retell that story, Feb 9th late at night we were far from downtown but I had a feeling to go there. We went and we met a man who is a member and it was his first day in Portugal. He said his family was coming to Portugal later in the year, but he was so glad he found us and we could tell him where and about some people in the church. Anyways, he moved to Italy for a quick two months after that, but then today, on May 10th the craziest part happened. We had a feeling to knock an apartment building. We rang a doorbell and someone let us in. When we entered the main floor, we saw that same man and his family! It was the family's first day in Portugal! We helped with all the luggage and they were super grateful. We talked to them about the church here and helped them feel more at ease! It was crazy, on each member of the family's first day, I was able to help them, and it was all through promptings! (That might have been hard to follow.... so sorry if that's the case) Also we met a guy who thought Moroni was a rich banker who started our church and that's why he is on the top of all of our temples. We told him he was an ancient prophet. He didn't believe us so we told him to read the Book of Mormon ahah.
May 11th - Zone Conference! Saw all the missionaries serving in the northern part of Portual which is always great! After that Elder Baugh and I went and got Pizza, finally ahah. And then we worked hard in the night.
May 12th - We dropped off a Book of Mormon in Hindi for an investigater. Then there was a stake young men activity at the church so we went to talk to them about missionary work!! That was awesome, because I realized that I was in their shoes around 5 months ago! Then contacted in the night!
May 13th - Sunday and the day I was waiting for all week! Also it was Mother's Day, so, Happy Mother's Day to all the moms reading this! All my friends' moms, you helped me grow up and become who I am today, all my aunts I'm grateful for the strong connection I have with all of you, grandmas, you both are so special in my life and I know I have been truly blessed by God to have had your helping hands in my life. And my mom, what a special woman, she would drop anything to help anyone, and she has guided me in the right direction more than anyone, I can feel God's love for me whenever I think of the mother I have been blessed with. But yeah, I Skyped my fam which was super special! Then we went and worked with the member Sol Amor. What a legend, seriously tho. We even taught a woman the first lesson!
The week was awesome and ended perfectly! As I said before, shoutout to all the moms! All the moms who helped me grow up and played a significant role in my life! You know who you would be! And thanks for all the support on my mish!
Crazy (funny) Story: We were walking downtown when some Asian people came up and asked for some directions! Right after they asked to take a picture with us hahah! Classic tourism lolol. But Aisans are the best, I love them! (Shoutout Jason)
My challenge from this week is to send a "One Day Late" Mothers Day message to one of the moms of your life!
Awesome week, still lovin the emails I recieve from everyone! I hope all is well and that you are getting ready for a great summer!
