August 6, 2018
Hey everyone! Sorry I don't have much time for emailing today, so if I don't respond to your email today I will try to next week. But I'm short on time because we went to Lisbon for a zone PDay! We went to Lisboa and that is why I had basically 0 time today!! It was dope and we did some touristy stuff or whatever! This week was SO HOT, it was over 45 degrees every day and for missionary work that's a grind... But yeah this past week was super dope!!

31 de Julho, We started with a district counsel in Santarem. Then in the night we went and worked in Azambuja. We had a dinner apointment there in the night but we also had 2 appointments before the dinner... that ended up not working. So we had a bunch of time, and we decided to pray to know what to do. After the prayer, we walked out the building and bumped into a man that we talked to a week earlier. Antonio. We walked with him and then walked to his mom's house and taught him the first lesson, and we felt to invite him to be baptized, which he accepted! It was really an amazing moment to see what a sincere prayer can bring! If we didn't pray, we wouldn't have bumped into him and had that moment!
1 de Agosto, The highlight of the day was going and visiting a reference from a member, Felipe. We went to his house and it was huge, but he also had a massive dog! The lesson though was awesome and super spiritual. He told us that he would like us to return. Oh and in the night things happened so we had to call some Elders more in the south and I ended up talking to my friend from the MTC Elder Nichols!!! It was so great to talk to him especially since we only spoke in Portuguese! It shows what you can accomplish by grinding hard on something!!!
2 de Agosto, We had lunch with a dope member Tiago, but then our other appointments fell through. A cool experience was in the night we were making a phone call, and these two 4 year olds came up to us just to talk. They asked who we were and we said, "Nos somos meninos de Jesus", which means, "We are the Jesus boys". They thought it was cool and then they invited us to their "PJ Party" and just wanted us to come play with them. But we told them we had to go, they were a little sad and the one little girl grabbed our hands and kissed them goodbye. It was really an eye opening moment. The little girl had so much love for us and we were random strangers she met 10 minutes earlier. It made me think that if we all had childlike love, how would this world be. I have been trying to emulate this trait immensely as of recent.
3 de Agosto, It was my good friend Elder Dias' birthday out here on the mish! We, in the night, taught a man "Lucimar" and the lesson was awesome. He said he felt goosebumps the whole time and believed us. He said he was coming back to Carregado in 3 months and that we need to return so that he can hear more. He loved the Book of Mormon that we gave him. It was cool actually how we found him. We didn't have much time in the night, but we felt a feeling to knock a building here. It had 13 floors, the elevator was broken, and it was soo hot. But we couldn't deny feelings from The Lord... so we grinded and found Lucimar!
4 de Agosto, Basically it was super hot, and all our lessons fell through. We were invited to a birthday party, we went, but we were also fasting, so we couldn't eat anything.. so we gave a spiritual message. Also, we had the weekly English lessons! So we officially have "The Usuals" now and it's awesome! People are starting to bring food and everything, it's now a party every week. Brazilians are the best hahah!
5 de Agosto, Church and then lunch with a bunch of members at Irma Luisa's house. After that we had some lessons fall through but we met some amazing people. We talked and taught this Brazilian family of 3 on a bench. We had a great conversation about life and countries and then a great spiritual talk! The have a 12 year old son and he was asking me questions about the USA and the places that I've been. We really felt a special feeling about this family. They want us to return and teach them about our church. Something special will happen here, I know that. Then we went to another bench and talked to a man with his baby boy. He told us to stop by his house and that he wasn't religious but wanted to know about our church! So our day was awesome because of that!!
Funny story (but kinda sad)... actually happened yesterday. We were in the church late in the afternoon and so were a couple members. We slightly opened the door and this baby bird flew in, but it couldn't really fly because it was a baby! One of the members that was there picked it up and was trying to find out what to do with it. They told me to go look for Iara (a ten year old girl who is always on the streets) because she is a like a bird whisperer or something. Turns out Iara was right outside of the church and I called her in. She took the bird and was trying to teach it to fly... in the process, she basically dropped this bird into a drain... everyone was trying to get the bird out but the second that it moved out of sight, everyone treated it like it never happened. It was pretty classic, Iara the bird whisperer.
My challenge is for you to send a message to someone, maybe a friend from school or just a friend from wherever, that you have not talked to this summer and just see what's goin on in their lives! What's new!!
My scripture of the week is a special one to me. One of my good friends from the mission Elder Oliveira gave me something special that has this scripture on it. Elder Oliveira went home because of a severe sickness but is fighting to get back out here. Anyways, this scripture is a great scripture and I challenge you to see what you need to do or change to live in line with this scripture in the Book of Mormon 2 Nephi Ch 5 V27
2 Nephi 5:27 And it came to pass that we lived after the manner of happiness.
Was a great week in the killer heat of Portugal, Love you all!
