Week 36 "New Job"

Week 36 "New Job"

August 27, 2018

Hey everyone! First of all my pictures aren't uploading here anymore but they do in Santarem. So They'll be uploaded on my blog at some point throughout the weeks, usually Tuesday! But anyways, the transfers came in and I'm staying in Carregado for my third transfer here for what will be a transfer of full on Portuguese! Elder Terra will be leaving after only one transfer here! He's actually going to his home ward from when he was a 5 year old! But anyways, I will be a district leader and my companion will be Elder Morreira. He's from Rio de Janeiro Brazil! He has 4 transfers on the mission, so I guess now I'm the senior comp! Crazy how the time has been flyin! Now I will have had 5 comps in the field, all with different nationalities! I'm super excited and it's gonna be a killer time! Our investigateor Felipe's baptism was moved to this coming Saturday and we're gonna have a big Ward party for it! But I'll hop into the week...

21 de Agosto, We went to Santarem for a district meeting. Sister Duce and Elder Dias were ending their missions this week so we held a "Funeral" for them. And then after that I went on a division with our zone leader Elder Seegmiller! It was awesome, we went and taught a woman who later got baptized the Sunday that just passed by! It was super great and I love Elder Seegmiller, he's a spiritual giant and a really great leader and example for me here! Overall a killer day!

22 de Agosto, Elder Seegmiller and I woke up at 5:50 in the morn and had to sprint to the bus stop! It was annoying sprinting in a suit but that's the mission life! Then we got back to Carregado and everything went back to normal. Meaning, I got back with Elder Terra! We had around 3 appointments cancel on us, all chill though. Then we went over to Felipe's and taught a great lesson. Love the guy so much, I'm so happy that I'm staying to see him get baptized!

23 de Agosto, We had lunch with Felipe and a member Simone! Felipe made some unreal pasta!! It's so crazy actually, to see how much he has changed in the past 6 weeks of us visiting. Our relationship has grown but more importantly we have seen his relationship with the Lord grow. He even has been looking up scriptures consistently to keep his mind focused on the Lord. Then we visited our investigator Amon, we read the Book of Mormon with him and I explained the story of what happens in the beginning of the book and he liked that and had some interest to start reading the book for himself. Basically that was our day!

24 de Agosto,  Our appointment with Felipe fell through, and then our appointment with Igor fell through, and then our appointment with the AAA (Ana, Anderson, and Antony) fell through. So we basically just tried to meet new people in the night.

25 de Agosto, We went to Felipe and taught another lesson to get him prepared for baptsim this next Saturday! Then we had lunch at Irma Tina's house! She gives us food every night and has us over every Saturday! Then we were knocking doors and a man named Tiago let us in and we shared a message with him and got a return date!

26 de Agosto, We had church, and then lunch at a members house (Tiago). After that we were just working hard when we got a call from our Mission President telling us we had new leadership callings as missionaries. And then when we found out Elder Terra was leaving, we visited a bunch of our investigators so that we could leave a message and so Elder Terra could say bye. We visited Igor and the AAA fam. We will visit more today!

It was a great last week with Elder Terra, we had a super good transfer here and worked hard! Because of that we brought the light of the Lord to Felipe, and his heart was touched by the spirit. Elder Terra is a great guy and a good friend! He said he wants to come visit Calgary so he can visit me and his other comp Joel Patterson!

My cool story from this week was really noticing the change and desire in our investigator Felipe. When he was at church this past week a member asked him,  "Are these missionaries giving you good lessons?".  Kinda joking around but Felipe said, "I'm not here for them, I'm here because this is what the Lord wants for me and I need to be baptized in His church. But they are super good friends of mine as well." That was awesome to watch and here!

My scripture if the week is Moroni Ch 10 V32. That's Elder Terra's fav scripture so I thought I'd share it since he's leaving Carregado.

Moroni 10:32
32 Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God.

By the way "Carregado" means "Loaded" in English.
