Hey everyone! We had a super sick week over here in Portugal! So many things went right, and that's when being a missionary is the best! We've been grindin hard and it's startin to show! This week includes seeing a member of the 70, seeing old friends, giving a talk, and marking a baptism for the 6th of October! So here's the week
18 de Set, Had a district counsel so you know what that means by now! We took the trip to Santarem. My public transport skills are basically level 97 by now. But it was a good meeting, love the people in my district. It's really cool because we have us, the Zone Leaders, and the Sister Training Leaders in the district. Everyone's always sharing good points and it's a big help spiritually. As the day ended we didn't get much done besides being shut down... But tudo bem!
19 de Set, The morning was a classic mission morning, then we were walking and contacting people and ended up teaching two people in the middle of this little park thing. They wanted to know about what happens after life so we taught them the Second Lesson "O Plano de SalvaçAo" It was a really great lesson. Then we stopped by Irma Iselda's (The woman we blessed last week) to see how she was doing. In the night we went over to our friend Igor's house and taught him the 3rd lesson, which is about the gospel of Christ. Good day!
20 de Set, Such a sick day. Loved it. We had a Zone Conference in the city of Oeiras with 150 missionaries, and Elder Paul V Johnson of the 70! It was an unreal Zone Conf. I really liked the talk Elder Johnson's wife gave. She touched a lot of interesting points like, the word atonement isn't used more than once in the Bible, but the Book of Mormon is full of it. We are only saved through the atonement, so we need to know as much as we can! But I also saw lots of my friends from the MTC that I havent seen, 7 of the 10 of us were there! I saw Elder Throolin, Elder Nichols, Elder Blake, Elder Webb, and finally my boys Elders Angeles and Freeman! Freak it was awesome to see them, soo dope. Freakin love Elder Freeman, such a beauty. And Elder Angeles is as classic as ever. The only one from the MTC that I haven't seen is Elder Taylor, one of my very best homies out here on the mish. I saw a lot of other homies from the mish as well like my boy Elder Baugh! I also finally met The Layton's. They're a senior couple missionaries that are serving here as well, so that was super cool! Great day, full of inspiration and great friends. Oh yeah, we got Kebob in the night as well.
21 de Set, Really all I can say is we got shut down and tried hard. Nothing really worked out though.
22 de Set, We finally met with Diogo. He is dating a girl in our Branch of Carregado. They read scriptures and stuff like that together. This dude is super cool. We taught him the 1st and 2nd lessons because he already knows all the lessons. He accepted a baptism date of October 6th! So that means we have another one on the way to salvation right before the end of the transfer! Then we had to wait in the sun for a bus that never came, which we then took a train to another city, then walked to Carregado in 40 minutes. It was 40 C outside so I got a little red. But in all honestly, not super red haha! After that, I taught my english lesson and then we had lunch with Douglas and Beatrice, a young couple in the Branch. At the end of dinner, Douglas told me that I had to give a talk in church the next day... So I prepared my talk a little bit once we got home, but left the rest for the morning so that I could sleep.
23 de Set, Great Sunday. Filipe blessed the sacrament for the first time and it was awesome! He had a white shirt and tie on, and was lookin fresh! As well I gave my first talk in Portugal. It went great. I chose the subject "The Book of Mormon, Sent by God" I did a good job and at times it felt like the Lord was putting words in my mouth! I barely even looked at my notes! A couple members even asked for a copy of my talk, so I KNOW the Lord helped me out on this one... what a blessing! Then we went to Tiago's house for lunch, a beauty as usual. In the night, we actually had to go to Lisboa and stay the night because Elder Moreira had his SEF work. (Residency stuff). Good day!
Super good week, y'already know!
A cool story from this week is... well whenever I go to the Kebob store, they already know what I'm gonna buy, so they just start making it. It's the only place here in Carregado to eat anything, and I've been here around 4 months, so we're homies. The store is owned by a bunch of guys from India.
Scripture of the week! Gonna throw out three scriptures here. It's a triple combo punch that proves the Book of Mormon is true.
John Ch10 V11
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
John Ch10 V16
16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
3rd Nephi Ch15 V21
21 And verily I say unto you, that ye are they of whom I said: Other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
This combo proves the truth. Jesus is the good shepard, we're the sheep. He said he'd give his life for us. And after his resurection in Jerusalem, he needed to go to the Ancient Americas so that he could visit the rest of his sheep. Because he loves us all the same.
Challenge of the week, Send me a picture of your favourite temple. Our recent convert Filipe loves seeing temples, and I'll make a list for him to look up on lds.org!
Hope life is great back home, HMU with some emails homies! Until next week!
