WEEK 45   Staying in the House is Fun... Ya

October 29, 2018

Hey everyone! Hahahah what a great week we had. First thing, our washing machine broke. Also I was a little bit sick for a couple days and the other Elders in my district have been sick the whole week! And then we have Elder Jardine.. he sprained his achilles and we have to stay in the house for a week. We found that out Thursday... I'll explain more about this durring my email! But the week was great.

Oct 23rd, So Elder Jardine's foot started hurting... we tried working but he had to go home. There wasn't a specific moment that he could remember hurting his foot, but all he knew was that his foot hurt!

Oct 24th, So we started off the day with a district meeting which went good! After that we had to stay home because of Elder Jardine's foot. The thing was we had to meet up with Natalina and go to a gospel principles class on the other side of Porto. We did splits with the other Elders and then all went good! basically ahah.

Oct 25th, So Elder Jardine called Sister Fillmore (Our Mission President's wife) about his foot and we ended up getting a Doctors appointment later in the day! When we got to the Doc's he told Elder Jardine he sprained his achilles due to a typical missionary work and walking all day every day! Doc said he needed and needs 1 week in the house. That means I, as his companion, need to stay with him. Hahah Looks like the Lord really wants us to be reading our scriptures at this moment! Then a senior missionary came over and dropped off a wheelchair. The only problem is that Portugal isn't built for wheelchairs. The cobblestone roads and sidewalks don't work out too well, and also there are no ramps anywhere usually. Also, my comp is 6'8 and the hills here in Porto would be a grind to push him around every day. But he at least uses it in the house hahah.

Oct 26th, The first and, I hope, last day of my mission where I stayed in the house the full day. Lots of studying, and lots of listening to Conference Talks. Killer time.

Oct 27th, We went to church and then had lunch at a member Josy's house, she's super awesome! Then we went with the senior missionaries to the other Elder's house. Elder Vigne was super sick and I had to help give a blessing. And then we went home and just studied some more haha. Fun times.

Quite the crazy week, so there it is hahah. Really was a good spiritual week though. I've just been focusing on the positives and have been reflecting on the things I've learned in my study. It was a good week.

Crazy story from this week... We tried doing missionary work with Elder Jardine's wheelchair but ran into problems within 30 seconds getting out of our door... then our building's door, then so forth. But we at least got a little bit done!

Scripture of the week:
This scripture blasted at me during scripture study this week: Mosiah Ch20 V11.

Mosiah 20:11 And it came to pass that the people of Limhi began to drive the Lamanites before them; yet they were not half so numerous as the Lamanites. But they fought for their lives, and for their wives, and for their children; therefore they exerted themselves and like dragons did they fight.

It made me think, "Am I fighting like a dragon for my life and future fam?" And that really is the question. Every decision we make effects our life, but more importantly, our family. And for younger people especially their future family. I've been thinking about that a lot recently.

Challenge of the week. It's in line with my scripture of the week. Look at your decisions and at the things you like to do. Are  they in line with fighting for your life and the lives of your family or future family? We gotta fight like dragons hahah!

Killer week. Love you all and thanks for the emails every week!
