WEEK 47 Great Week

WEEK 47 Great Week

November 12, 2018

Hey everyone! Well I could say it was a good week, but it was one of the lower weeks I had! It had some high points at least though. I mean life is good though and I'm for the most part healthy! I might as well go right in to the week.

6 de Nov, The day started off awesome! We got a call from Irmao Mario because he was sick and needed a blessing. We went there and gave a blessing. It's super cool to think that I can do it in Portuguese sem problemas. That was cool and then we shared a message from DC Ch104 V82. "And inasmuch as ye are humble and faithful and call upon my name, behold, I will give you the victory."  Great verse, great promise. That was basically the highlight of the day. In the afternoon I had to go to the Dr.'s for some random checkup thingy.

7 de Nov, We got a call from some sisters in the morning with a lessons planned for us at 5pm! We already had a lesson planned at 4pm across the city! We went to the first meeting with Antonio Leite, a less active. We helped him out spiritually and invited him to church. Elder Jardine did a great job taking the lead on the lesson! He then proceeded to give us watches hahah. We then left for the other appointment but the house didn't exist, so we basically got shreked... ou seja  (Or in other words = we got wrecked). Then, in the night, we had dinner with bispo! We actually had dinner with around 9 members and one non member. We taught the first lesson! The non member's name is Bernardinho, he's our bishop's cousin. Super cool dude from São Tome and he loved the lesson and the Book of Mormon that we gave him! It was a killer night and awesome dinner, stroganoff or however you spell that! We sung our mission hymn for everyone else after because it's a new mission rule that we have for when we eat with members hahah. Pretty great day!

8 de Nov, One of the elders in my district (Elder Fillmore) reached 1 year on the mission so for lunch we went out and celebrated with Domino's Pizza, classic. We tried passing by some less active, but didn't really get all too much done sadly. Good day though!

9 de Nov, Dope day cause we had a Zone Conference. I learned some great things and new teaching strategies. We also got Flu Shots, that was super cool actually all us elders were basically chillin half dressed looking all crazy. It was awesome! I also had a bunch of good friends there, like my man Elder Baugh, so that was dope! I got a couple packages so that is always a blessing. In the night after this we went to an institute class because there was supposed to be a new young single adult who moved from Mozambique... but he wasn't there. We ate with all the other YSA's after though, it was dope!

10 de Nov, In the morning it was cool! All the missionaries who lived somewhat close to us came with us and we sung our Missions hymn for all the Stake Presidents of the country and a member of the 70! After that we sang it again and they joined us. Then we all took a picture. We're really trying to put an emphasise on member missionary work and teamwork with the missionaries. We are really trying to only baptize converts and bring people back. President Fillmore is an inspired man ahah! Good times though! Sadly, we received a text from Natalina saying she needed time to herself to think about life. So she basically ditched us and her baptism which woulda been this Saturday. I have never experienced a terrible break up but I can say that this is worse ahah. You really do start loving the people you serve here and just want the best for them. We really are offering the pathway back to Christ. I know Natalina will be baptized and join the church one day, she has a strong testimony, it was just hard, and sad. You know you love the people when reading a text like that is heart breaking ahah. I can really say I love the people here, I feel I'm at that point. After that we had to plan for our week and we tried working with no luck. We both were feeling kinda sick in the morning, probably because we got the shots the day before and had a fresh virus in us hahah.

11 de Nov, Crazy and strange day. So our church is the stake centre of two stakes, Porto and Porto North. We already had our Stake Conference but this Sunday was the other stake's Conference. So we had church from 3-6pm!! First time that I ever came out of church and it was dark! Latest church of my life. It was good though! After Church, we had dinner with the other Elders and our homie Karina Evora.

Yeah so the semana was full of ups and downs.

Cool story, I learned more about Harry Potter more than I ever have in my life this week ahah, kinda seems a litle bit more interesting now! Kinda sad that's my interesting story from this week though, as I've never had interest in Harry Potter before lol.

Scripture, Proverbs Ch3 V5 na Biblia.
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."
We were trying to find a scripture and came across this beauty. Basically tells us we know nothing compared to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Challenge of the week... Look up cool stuff to do in the City of Porto and let me know what you find so I can do some cool stuff on Pdays! (Preparation Days)

Well, there you have my week, pretty lit. In reality, my mission has been incredible and as I've said, I wouldn't change it for anything. We're bound to have good weeks and bad weeks, but there's always positives to find in the weeks. So I can say because of the positives I had this week, it was one of my first "medium" weeks on the mission hahah. Life here is good though, speaking Portuguese is awesome.
