Nov 20th, We contacted a man named Antonio Ferreira. He went to church in another city a while ago and he wanted to know more about the church so we set an appointment for Saturday. Then we went to Irma Josy's house. We gave her a blessing of health a couple weeks ago and she wanted a blessing of comfort because she was going in for her exams and health tests the next day. Also her friend Nina just happened to be there and she needed a health blessing so we did that. We've also been working and talking with our friend Vinicius who is Irma Josy's son! Vinicius has recently been coming back to church and he's super sick, he's 19 and teaches the English class at the church. He also is probably going to move to Canada one day, Most likely BC. He's super cool though, we've been preparing him to get the Melchezedik (I can't spell that in English anymore) Priesthood. So we went over and explained what it fully meant and the responsibility it is. Love that guy, we've been getting into these deep convos and really helping him out. Good times.
Nov 21st, We had a district counsel and we had everyone there. Our district stayed the same except the other Elders added one more! Elder Vigne leaves December 19th so they picked another one up. His name is Elder Leon, I know him from a couple transfers ago because we chilled on PDays sometimes. He's from the Canary Islands which are part of Spain but are way down by South Africa! Which means he speaks Spanish! It was cool because later in the day I went on a small division with him. We went to some members house. They're from Venezuala and have been here for 8 months, so they speak Spanish way more fluently. They all talked in Spanish and me in Portuguese. I can legit say I didn't get lost once and we had a great conversation with the young three boys about missions. It was super cool to see how easily I could communicate with Spanish people!! Then I switched back to Elder Jardine and we went to English Classes. Following that was a birthday party for our bishop with everyone from the English Class and it was sweet, had some good Brazilian treats!
Nov 22nd, Happy USA Thanksgiving. We prepped our big meal in the morning and invited the other Elders over for lunch. It was a great Thanksgiving sheesh. You'll see a pic attatched. We even found 2L of Dr Pepper, so that was a blessing. We didn't get much down on the contacting part sadly but we went over to Irma Josy's house again because she got her results back! Every test came back negative (which is good) everything she could've had she didn't and the dr.'s said she'll be back to a normal life style in a short amount of time which is a blessing and a half because she's been sick for a while. We then talked with Vinicius about a chapter in Doctrine and Covenants. We helped explain some things and he told us and why he left the church for a bit. He said he never lost his testimony. He asked what the max age for a mission was, and then told us he wants to serve a mission now. Apparently it's the first time he's ever really talked about going on a mission. I've really grown to love Vinicius we're homies for sure. There's a cool story about the blessings we gave Josy, I'll write about that in my "Cool Story" part.
Nov 23th, Diogo was baptized in Carregado. Shoutout to my boy Elder Moreira good work. In the morning we taught a woman named Ana! That was great, she's super awesome and we'll go back next week! Our friend Antonio Ferreira cancelled on us because his GF got sick in another city so nothing happened there. We made some good contacts on the street in the night but nothing huge came from it!
Nov 24th, Church in the morning which went great! After that we ate lunch at Irma Josy's house. She had a friend from another ward who starts a huge medical procedure tomorrow so we gave her a blessing of health. Then we did some street work, and ended our day with dinner at Karina Evora's house as usual. Sunday is always our best day to recieve food ahah!
Cool story, We blessed Irma Josy with a blessing of health a couple weeks ago and her son Vinicius pointed out when we blessed her we said "You will be healed through your faith". Since then he said she worked hard to be righteous and never missed an hour of church. In our blessing of health the one of us who blessed her said "You have been cured by your faith." And she was cured and freed from all potential illnesses she could have had. It was a real cool experience and awesome her son saw that. It helped motivate his desire to get the preisthood.
Scripture of the week, Alma Ch8 V31.
31 And they had power given unto them, insomuch that they could not be confined in dungeons; neither was it possible that any man could slay them; nevertheless they did not exercise their power until they were bound in bands and cast into prison. Now, this was done that the Lord might show forth his power in them.
This scripture shows how strong the power of God is, and how He loves to show His power through His servants. I testify that He does this through worthy priesthood holders.
Challenge of the week, Pray about the Book of Mormon. Even if you've already received an answer reasurrance never hurts. If you haven't received an answer, then do your part to show God you have real intention to know about the truth of the Book and receive an answer.
Good week, miracles happen through faith.
