WEEK 51, HBD BLZ
December 10, 2018
Hey everyone! Starting off this email by saying happy birthday to my best friend Blaze!! It's freakin sad that I haven't seen him in a year and we could be going on three and a half years in total... that's a long time without your main guy. I remember so many nights we would stay up way too late talking, or how we'd always have each others backs wherever we were. Miss you and love you brother, my day 1. I'd drop whatever for ya and I hope I've been a good brother all of our 18 years together. But it was good week that started off with a giant Family Home Evening directly after emailing last PDay. And after this PDay, we're going over to the Senior Missionaries house for dinner, so that'll be great! But yeah, it was a pretty normal week! This next week will be super awesome though, with a bunch of parties! One for our mission and one for our ward! And it'll be my 52 week on the mission, so crazy how the time has passed. I can't really explain it hahah. Here was my week though.
4 de Dez, District Counsel in the morning and we had a funeral for Elder Vigne. When a missionary is ending their mission, or in missionary terms "dying" their last district counsel is their "funeral". It was pretty cool. I gave him time to give us all a training session, including some Elders from other distrcts as well! And I gave a classic spiritual thought on how there are many churches but only one has "all the ingredients". Elder Vigne loves CocaCola more than anything else. So I bought 6 different kinds of Coke. Coke, diet coke, pepsi, pepsi max, knock off brand, and caffeine free Coke. I put them all in separate cups that looked the exact same and he had to taste them all and get the right one. It came down to Coke and Diet Coke and he chose the right Coke! It was a cool lil spiritual thought! Also in the night, we had to practice in a choir, which will take place on December 23rd during a special sacrament meeting. That was cool but the choir is going to be awful hahahahahah. It'll be a good memory though.
5 de Dez, Cool day! We taught a man named Antonio who was a street contact a while back and his friend Maria was also there for the lesson. She used to do geneology with our church and they've both had good experiences with our church in the past. We taught the Plan of Salvation and the spirit was there. Maria has cancer and was talking about her grandson a lot. It was really cool that I could relate my story with me and my Nana in that situation. It really helped her put things into perspective and brought our lesson to a different personal kind of level. I've come to learn personal experiences and situations are what help peole see how the gospel can change them best! After that we went to the English class which was the last one of the year!!
6 de Dez, My comp Elder Jardine was sick so we couldn't really do all that much! We had a dinner appointment in the night with Irma Elena! She's so awesome and a crazy woman from Angola!
7 de Dez, Same thing but it was both of us who were sick! We had a dinner appointment with Irma Celeste and Irmao Eduardo in the night that we went to though. When we have dinners planned, we have to go or people will never sign up again ahah! Well at least some times! Irma Celeste said we can call and go over to eat any day we want!
8 de Dez, Still sick but we went out to meet up with one of our investigaters Carol. We helped her out with some English work that she had to do! In return, she gave us some chicken ahaha! Then we had to go home and rest because the Zone Leaders told us to.
9 de Dez, church! it was so funny because the Relief Society basically did a Primary Presentation ahahah! It was set up the exact same way and it was so classic hahahah. The we had lunch at familia Oliveira's house! I also taught the Elders Quorom lesson on Elder Uchtdorf's talk, "Believe, love, do". It was a good lesson and everyone participated. Pretty cool to do that in Portuguese!! Following that, we tried to find a missing member, David ahah. He hasn't been responding to anyone and it turns out that his address doesn't exist... we went to where it shoulda been though.
December 10th, today, Blaze's Birthday!
Cool story from the week, I bought a mini Christmas Tree! It's small and was cheap but fits it's purpose and on my desk so well!
Scripture of the week, 2Nephi Ch2 V27
27 Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh; and all things are given them which are expedient unto man. And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself.
The gift of free will is such a crazy thing. We are never bound to a certain decision, we are just tempted. We are free to choose eternal life!
Challenge, 1st say happy birthday to my bro. blazewlayton@gmail.com Second write someone in your family a good message this week. But make it a good one!
That's it for the week. Next week will be super lit!
