WEEK 65 Anotha One
WEEK 65 Anotha One
March 18, 2019
Hey everyone! We're down to the last week of this transfer now! Honestly it's really flown by. It's always just a good, fast, and fun time with my filho Elder Cloes. Love the dude, we're just rippin. Anyways, we did have a great week over here! We've been workin hard and we should be seeing the fruits of our labours pretty soon here! Also it was one of the first times I've posted on Facebook in forever, so that was pretty cool! Honestly I'm not sure how many crazy stories or how awesome this email will be, I think it was kinda just a basic week of missionary work. So let's just go for it.
(Also I posted on Facebook so check it out to see my testimony in Portuguese)
12 de Março, As usual our Tuesday started off by heading upwards towards Setúbal for our District Counsel. Good times. All that time including getting there and return takes up a huge chunk of the day when you also have to include our studies. It kinda makes it a little hard but at the same time, it's totally fine, it's how the Lord wants it. Basically I'll go to later that night when we went over to Irma Catarina's house and talked with a bunch of her grandchildren about the plan of salvation. It was an awesome lesson and the 8 year old grandson named Rolly was basically guessing everything we were about to explain! It was incredible how much he knew and understood! It was overall great and we marked to pass by again on the following Thursday! We made contacts and other stuff like that but in the end, it didn't end up leading to anything this exact day.
13 de Março, It was a big day for us because we had a really important lesson scheduled. We were planning to pass by Elena, Davino, Jessica, and Tiago at about 5pm! Man I love them so much, they're just such great people! Anyways, we had a special message for them which was the Word of Wisdom. Which is basically a health guideline provided by Prophets of God, yeah it's great hahah! Anyways, we got there and that was the message we shared. They responded to it really well and agreed to live the standards. And they've been going through with it every day! Their example of faith to me is unreal. You can tell how sincere someone is based on how quickly they act upon knowledge. Here is a situation of a family that just adapted to the word of God as they heard it. Obviously guided by their great faith, they were able to show what it means to act rapidly. There really wasn't any other huge story because our other appointments got cancelled on us last second. That's always a bummer but it happens!
14 de Março, So in the morn we had to go pass by a list we have of some less active members here in our area. We went around trying to locate them but really we didn't have much luck with that. So we went right up to somebody we knew would know the less actives we were looking for, that person was our Português grandma, Irmã Germana! She informed that a bunch of people passed and/or moved away. And then, being the little saint that she is, asks us if we would join her for some lunch. Of course we did, there's nobody sweeter than our little Germana! She makes great food as well! We might even get to teach her neighbour pretty soon here. In the night, we went to Irma Catarina's and her grandchildren were goin crazy hahah... but it was fine, we still got a message in so we were satisfied. The kids are fans of us, they love the Elders hahah! That was the day!
15 de Março, like every Friday, a big part of the work day gets taken up by our weekly planning session. But it's good because then we have goals and we feel ready and prepared for the weeks teaching! Other than that we knocked some doors and got some potentially interested people marked down. We then passed by some less active members, the woman (I won't use her name) was sick and sleeping so we were asked to come back and give a blessing of health the following day. After that we went for dinner at our friends house! Miguel and Marcia! They're just the best and they're doing great, they always have great food for us and it's just a great time. They live kinda far away for the time being but their about to move closer to the church!
16 de Março, we basically spent the whole day with Irmão Jeorge and Irmã Valquiria so that was great! In the morning we got up, studied, and then went to go do some service work for Irmao Jeorge on his farm. We planted lettuce and onions! It was a good time. Following that we tried to pass by some less active members. Then after we had lunch, we went to go talk about the 10 commandments with our great friends Elena, Davino, Jessica, and Tiago! Irmão Jeorge and lrmã Valquiria came with us to teach. It was awesome since they've been members for 1 year, their testimonies were a great support for our friends and nice for them to relate to! The lesson went great and they all committed to living the standards of the commandments. Man I love all those people. We then in the night had dinner with Irmão Jeorge and lrmã Valquiria! As I said, it was a day full of them, and it was a great day. Irmão Jeorge killed it on the food as usual!
17 de Março, Church! As usual it was great, we had some new people in the church as well as lots of less actives! The work here is just goin great and were doing our best to pack the church every week! Honestly nothing much besides church really happened. The members as usual made us food for after church which is just a huge blessing and the rest of our day nobody was interested in what we had to say! Plus we had studies to do. Man the days fill up.
Cool Story: well it's happened to me once this transfer but a bunch of times on the mish.. this guy came up to me speaking Russian, then he realized I didn't speak it so he went to Ukrainian... realized I didn't speak that so he went to Portuguese and asked where I was from. He seemed happy with the response of Canada, but he told me he thought I was a young Russian kid, or Ukrainian. Man it happens more than you'd think. Other than members of the church, who usually guess the USA, I usually get ( in about this order)
1. German
2 Russian
3. Ukrainian
4. Brazil
5. USA
And then from there they either give up or guess randomly, I've even gotten Mexico as a 6th option a couple times hahah! Usually members get lost after I tell them I'm not American as well. A very small number of people have guessed Canada even after 5 guesses! But anyways, go 🇨🇦!
Scripture: 3 Nephi Ch12 V41
"E se alguém te obrigar a caminhar uma milha, vai com ele duas."
41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
I feel this is very important because as we strive to perfect ourselves it can only come through serving our fellow men. If someone wants or makes you do something, do more than is expected because the further you go the more likely someone will notice, and God for sure will notice your efforts. Leading to blessings from your works, and obedience to the commandments. Love one another.
Challenge: ^^^^^
This week someone will ask you do something you don't want to. Instead of arguing silently, and happily, agree and then go the second mile. You will be blessed and even better you'll be blessing someone else.
Shoutout to the og's. Keep it real.
It's been real, until next week.
Elder out.
Mamba out.
