WEEK 66 Santo André Round 3

WEEK 66 Santo André Round 3

March 25, 2019

Hey everyone! So it looks like I'll be staying here as the district leader and continuing to the end of Elder Cloes' training. I couldn't be happier, we've been workin super hard over here and we have 5 baptisms this Sunday!!!! So staying is the best news I could a got. Man this area is just goin great! Loving it here, and it's great serving with Elder Cloes, he\s a great son!! We are gonna wreck this transfer.

19 de Março, we started the morning by going to district counsel up in Setúbal which was good! It was our last one of the transfer. It was a good one!! But after that we went on back to Santo André! We basically got back and then had lunch with Irmão Antonio and Irmã Zulmira! Man they're awesome. We helped them chase down and capture a goat so we could free it from it's collar that was on too tight. Elder Cloes worked so hard to get that thing hahaha I have so many great pics of him booking it after animals. But he tired the goat out so much I was easily able to grab it and then we helped it out! So we left from there and went and talked to our friends Elena, Davino, Tiago, and Jessica! We went over and read the Book of Mormon introduction! They committed to read to certain parts by Saturday! Man they're awesome. We then got up and left for dinner at the Picanço's house! They're so awesome and easily one of my fav fam in this country! It was a great dinner and an overall awesome day!

20 de Março, well we got up, did some studies and then we had to go to Santo André to see when the other elders would take the bus home. We did that and then we had lunch at Irmã Germana's house! She's the bomb. The other elders got super lucky, they came here basically just to eat food! Honestly, we couldn't get much else done in the day! Our other appointments didn't work out, and the less actives we passed by either didn't want nothing, weren't home, or had already passed away!  That was the day.

21 de Março,  oh boy, so we have a huge area and because of that we have a car... we had to use it lots today and this week to look for some less active members. And honestly in the morning we found some but they weren't interested in coming back to church!! Other than this and some studies the real only other high point was Miguel and Marcia! They'll be moving this next week!!! We're so excited, they're so close to getting fully involved in the gospel once again! We love them.

22 de Março,  so it was a great day! We had a huge and great weekly planning session... it was heavily needed as we will be having a decent quantity of baptisms this coming week!!! Anyways, we hit up Don's for lunch because we were goin ham. Following that, we visited a member who's been growing through a harder time as of recent and planned to pass by the following Tuesday. We'll be preparing her daughter for baptism as well! And from there we continued our day and passed by Catarina's family. Her grandchildren are great, especially Rafa! Ever since the first lesson, she has been so engaged and even she's a few years, she's only 10 but she knows it's TRUE.  Man we love that fam. So we then went to our friends (Davino, Elena, Tiago, and Jessica's) pizza shop! They ended up making this meat thing with rice and beans and salad, it was incredible. We ate with them and they didn't make us pay. These people are elect as it gets. Man we've learned so much from them. We were able to explain about the mission, how it works, the costs, and stuff like that!! It was great!

23 de Março,  in the morning I went the furthest east I ever have in my life actually! We had to go find some less actives, which it turns out had passed away, but it was a cool time because we met and taught a woman named Amelia. She was a super cool talkative woman! We then returned home, ate some food and went to go fill up Irma Germana's tires! She then came with us as we went to teach Elena, Davino, Jessica, and Tiago about the law of tithing. We were unsure as to how they would react but we believed it would work out great. And it did, right out the gate they started by saying how it would be a blessing!!! And they accepted it. They loved the idea of temples and we left a special temple book for them to read. They totally agreed tithing shouldn't go towards church leaders, but rather to develop the church! Man they accepted it so willingly, that was a huge testimony booster for us. So their date for the 31st of March is still on, and we're really looking forward to it!! We also made them some brownies and taught tithing with M&M's hahah! We then dropped some brownies off at Irma Catarina's house! And then we went to have dinner with Irmão Jeorge! It was great, as always. Elder Cloes had a great idea and asked them if they had dedicated their home, they said they didn't even know that was a thing! So we dedicated the home! It was great and a good spiritual experience!

24 de Março,  Church! The week flew by! But church was great, we had 8 less actives return and 7 new friends in the church! We're trying real hard to pack it all up! Elder Cloes and I had to give talks. I felt the prompting not to prepare anything except go up with the 1 chapter of Enos in mind. Man it went great, I was able to share stories from the mish and home while getting a good message across. Some members gave some very heartfelt comments to me after but it really is incredible to talk through the Spirit and not fully even think about what you're saying. After that we had a lesson on the Plan of Salvation in the elders quorum. Church was great, Davino was there with Jessica and Tiago! (As well as his 6 month baby Jose) but sadly Elena had to work. She won't be working next week though for her Baptism! We're pumped for next Sunday! After church we had a small amount of food with the members and yeah! We then got the transfer call that we'll be staying here together! And after we decided to pass by Irma Catarina's house because she missed church. Turns out she was just sick. We then began sharing a message and it was unreal. Rafa was there and we started the message which we quickly turned into a baptismal invitation. We asked her if she wanted to and she ran out of the room, screamed into a pillow in her bedroom, came back and then said "yes please"! It was incredible,  her knowledge is so advanced for a 10 year old and she was thrilled to receive the invitation. She always gets so happy when we come over. She told us she will be having trouble sleeping she'll be so excited! We read 2 scriptures with her and shared asked, "can we please keep going?". She is just so ready. Man, right before we left, she asked if she could have a hug. There's no I/we could say no. Christ would have done it, the Spirit was there, and so as representatives of Christ, we gave a her a hug. Man whatta day. This next week is going to be so busy, holy.

Só it was a lit week. So dope.

Cool story: so the members here usually call me Elder Leitão. It's the closest Portuguese word sounds-wise to "Layton".  It's usually how I introduce myself to members as well! Leitão here means "Piglet" or "Little Pig" so they usually find it funny, and then they never forget my name hahah! The catch is that I'm forever called Elder Leitão! But it's chill because it's a great name.

Scripture: 3 Nephi Ch27 V7
"Portanto, tudo quanto fizerdes, vós o fareis em meu nome; por conseguinte chamareis a igreja pelo meu nome; e invocareis o Pai em meu nome, a fim de que ele abençoe a igreja por minha causa."

Therefore, whatsoever ye shall do, ye shall do it in my name; therefore ye shall call the church in my name; and ye shall call upon the Father in my name that he will bless the church for my sake.

It's clear that if a church, really is Christ's church, it definitely should be named after him. Because it is His church!!! Straight up.

Challenge: I challenge you to read 3 Nephi from now until the end of the month. If you do it, I guarantee that you will SEE blessings in your life.

That's it my homies, keep it real.

Elder out.

Mamba out.
